High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy comprises an air/oxygen blender, active humidifier, single heated circuit, and nasal cannula. It delivers adequately heated and humidified medical gas at up to 60 L/min flow rate, offering multiple physiological benefits including anatomical dead space reduction, PEEP effect, constant fraction of inspired oxygen, and optimal humidification.
